Root, Root, Root for the Home Team

The darndest thing happened this morning. I turned to The Times sports section and immediately noticed a piece regarding a football player at USC. It seems he had previously been suspended for allegedly receiving money from an agent (he denies knowing the money came from an agent). Now he is being accused of a similar offense by way of a clandestine telephone call. His football coach has reacted, not with support, but by extending the player’s suspension.
But wait! It was just a nightmare. I had dreamed that I had awakened in another land where anonymous innuendo were grounds for persecution and punishment. And, to further reinforce my relief, I could not find one ounce of indignant argument against this type of thuggery anywhere in the paper. With that thought I shortly returned to peaceful sleep.
I soon woke up. The sun was shining, the birds were singing and I knew exactly where I was. I had a good chuckle recalling the dream.
