Palos Verdes Chadwick 27, Capistrano Valley Christian 14--Bryant Wolfsberger rushed for 164 yards in 34 carries in Capistrano Valley Christian’s loss Friday night at Torrance High.
Wolfsberger’s four-yard touchdown run and the Eagles’ two-point conversion gave them an 8-7 lead in the second quarter.
After Chadwick responded with two second-quarter touchdowns to take a 21-8 lead, quarterback Wayland Williams cut into the lead with a two-yard touchdown run for Capistrano Valley Christian (1-2).
Troy 19, Whittier La Serna 16--Kyion Grayes ran for 242 yards in 32 carries to lead Troy at La Serna.
Grayes scored on a pair of one-yard touchdown runs to give the Warriors (1-2) a 13-0 halftime lead. Grayes then increased Troy’s lead to 19-0 on a 31-yard run in the third quarter.
La Serna (1-2) rallied for 16 points in the fourth quarter, but came up short.
Bolsa Grande 28, La Puente Bassett 21--The Matadors improved to 2-1 by beating the winless Olympians at Bassett High.
L.A. Salesian 12, Whittier Christian 8--Whittier Christian fell short in the battle of winless teams, falling to the Mustangs at Downey Pius X High. It was the Heralds’ third consecutive game with fewer than 10 points, but the four-point loss is their closest of the season and their best defensive performance.
