*** The Golden Palominos, “Dead Inside,” Restless. Another wild ride in the laboratory of percussionist Anton Fier, who this time transforms his ongoing project into a setting for the grim storytelling of poet Nicole Blackman. Seething trip-hop ripples and floats menacingly, but ultimately works mostly as atmosphere for Blackman’s dark poetics, spoken in a near whisper. Murder, bad sex, bad people. Definitely not easy listening.
