This small island of a city at the western edge of Los Angeles County is celebrating its 15th anniversary Sunday with a concert and picnic in a park.
Organized as an old-fashioned family picnic, with food and entertainment, the free event will begin at 3 p.m. in Berniece Bennett Park, 31800 Village Center Road.
Residents are invited to bring a lunch basket--though free hot dogs and sodas will be provided to children under 14--lounge chairs and blankets to the park to hear the Agoura High School Jazz Band. The park’s new “tot lot” playground also will be open. Also scheduled to entertain is Playback, a local band that plays 1940s swing along with contemporary music.
Westlake Village, population 7,800, incorporated in 1981 and spans 5.4 square miles.
