McEwan Leads Thousand Oaks, 20-13

Scott McEwan completed 11 of 22 passes for 241 yards and three touchdowns to lead fifth-ranked Thousand Oaks High to a come-from-behind 20-13 victory over Channel Islands in a Marmonte League opener Friday night at Channel Islands.
McEwan’s 74-yard touchdown pass to Barrett Grindle with five minutes, 47 seconds left in the game put Thousand Oaks ahead to stay, 18-13. Eleo Cuadra ran for the two-point conversion.
Grindle had eight catches for 150 yards.
Thousand Oaks (3-0-1) trailed, 13-0, before McEwan connected with Judd Southwell on a 33-yard scoring pass in the second quarter. The Lancers closed to within 13-12 on a 36-yard touchdown pass from McEwan to Cuadra in the third quarter.
Channel Islands (1-3) had first-quarter scoring runs of two yards by Jared Krehbiel and 12 yards by Sean Biggs. Biggs finished with 63 yards in 15 carries.
