Tropical Depression Forms in Caribbean

A tropical depression formed in the western Caribbean and could strike Cuba and Florida at hurricane strength within three days, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said. The center of tropical depression 12 was about 410 miles south-southeast of Havana and moving northwest at about 9 mph. The government of Cuba issued a hurricane watch for the Isle of Youth and the mainland provinces of Pinar del Rio and Havana. The system was expected to shift direction to a track that would most likely put it near southern Florida.
