R. Elliott Davis; Founded West Coast Office of Insurance Firm

R. Elliott Davis, 93, who founded the West Coast office of a major Wall Street insurance firm. Davis, a lawyer, was an executive with Fidelity & Deposit of Maryland and opened its West Coast claims division in Los Angeles in 1952. He ran the office until his retirement in 1967. An avid pianist, Davis was also known for composing community theater shows wherever he lived, including Summit, N.J., Pasadena and his retirement city of Laguna Beach. In recent years, he served as president of the Laguna Beach Lawn Bowling Club. Born in Brooklyn, Davis earned his undergraduate degree at Syracuse University and his law degree at St. Lawrence University. On Oct. 12 in Laguna Niguel.
