Residents Can Recycle Old Christmas Trees
- Share via
Simi Valley is recycling used Christmas trees for free this year for all residents with curbside trash service.
Residents must put their trees on the curb no later than 6 a.m. on trash collection day. Those living in apartment buildings or other multifamily dwellings should contact their landlord about disposal options.
City trash collectors will pick up and recycle the trees.
Residents can also drop off used Christmas trees at the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center at 2801 Madera Road on Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at no cost through Jan. 4.
Trees taller than 6 feet must be cut in half. Residents must remove all stands, steel reinforcement rods, tinsel, ornaments and lights to prevent damaging the recycling equipment. And flocked trees cannot be recycled, so they will be collected and disposed of as trash.
For more information, call the Simi Valley Community Services Department at 583-6861.
