Rescue Mission to Host Children’s Party

The Ventura County Rescue Mission will host its sixth annual Christmas party for children at 1 p.m. today at the mission, 234 E. 6th St., Oxnard.
More than 100 volunteers will be on hand to distribute $4,000 worth of toys purchased by the the GTE Internet Subsidiary in Oxnard.
Rescue Mission spokesman Wayne Warzecha said the goal of the party is to brighten the lives of needy, poor and homeless children who would otherwise experience Christmas with an empty stocking.
“This event will touch thousands of children from needy families in our county,” Rescue Mission Executive Director Jerry Roberg said.
