Brian Caldwell, who circumnavigated the globe by sailboat before his 21st birthday and is one of the youngest people to make the trip, will speak Friday at Orange Coast College.
Caldwell will share tales from the journey he started planning while in high school.
The speech is part of a sailing-adventure series that continues Jan. 31 with John Neal, a sailor who charts the world’s most difficult courses. His travels have taken him through Alaska, Cape Horn and Antarctica.
Orange Coast College is well known in Southern California for its sailing program. One supporter recently bequeathed a yacht worth more than $1 million to the program.
Advance tickets for the engagements are $9.50 each in the college’s community education office. Tickets at the door are $11. The college is at 2701 Fairview Road.
