GARDEN GROVE — A police officer on routine patrol collided with a bicyclist Tuesday night, and both were hospitalized with injuries described as not life-threatening, officials said.
The accident occurred at 8 p.m. on Euclid Street in the southbound lanes near the corner of Palm Vista Street, according to Garden Grove Police Sgt. Bump Willis.
The injured officer, who was not identified, was treated at Garden Grove Hospital and Medical Center for face or eye injuries from shattered windshield glass, officials said. The condition of the bicyclist, identified only as a man in his 20s, was not known.
The collision appeared to happen mid-street. The bicycle, its rear wheel mangled, was in the street near the front tires of the patrol car shortly after the crash.
The California Highway Patrol was investigating the collision Tuesday night, a routine procedure when local officers are involved in a crash.
