Two armed men robbed the landlord of a Canoga Park apartment complex Tuesday after he had collected the month’s rent from his tenants, according to police.
The landlord, 54, was visiting his 84-year-old father, who lives in the complex in the 7200 block of Vassar Avenue, about 8:40 p.m. Tuesday when two men entered the front door, brandishing handguns and demanding money, police said.
In addition to an undisclosed but “substantial” amount of money, police said the robbers stole jewelry and a portable phone.
The men reportedly made no threats, but tied the landlord and his father before leaving.
According to authorities, after untying himself, the landlord phoned police. Neither the landlord nor his father were injured, police said.
West Valley detectives described the robbers as Latinos, one about 6 feet tall, in his mid-20s and weighing 175 pounds, the other about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, also in his mid-20s and weighing 160 pounds.
