OTTAWA — A man shouting about the devil drove his Jeep Cherokee up two flights of steps leading to the main Parliament building Friday, narrowly missing an employee who was cleaning the steps.
Witnesses said the man stopped the vehicle in front of the entrance, got out and started yelling about politicians and “devil worshipers.”
He then stormed into the lobby of Parliament, cursing in English and thrashing about. It took several minutes and 20 to 30 security officers to overpower him, said a politician who had been at the door.
Police said Roger Lamoureux, 35, of Cantley, Quebec, will be charged Monday with dangerous driving and two counts of mischief.
