Books Overdue? Library Will Call You
Starting next month, the Huntington Beach library’s computer will get phone privileges.
The computer will be able to call library patrons with overdue books and notify them with a recorded message. But if the computer fails to reach anyone, an old-fashioned written notice will be mailed.
Also, to keep from having overdue books, patrons will be able to renew materials by phone. Starting the first week of March, patrons may call (714) 374-1680 and type their library card numbers plus those of books to be renewed.
The system will save paper, postage and time, officials said, and get overdue items back in circulation sooner.
