Awards ceremonies, displays and an annual walk around the county Government Center will mark this year’s National Crime Victims’ Rights Week celebration in Ventura County, Dist. Atty. Michael Bradbury has announced.
This year’s theme: “Let Victims’ Rights Ring Across America.”
National Crime Victims Week runs from April 13 to 19. Local ceremonies will be held April 16 beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Ventura County Government Center’s central fountain plaza.
The Ventura Police Department honor guard will be featured. An awards ceremony will honor a peace officer, volunteer and community organization showing exceptional sensitivity and commitment to victims’ rights. A display honoring crime victims will be set up on the knoll in front of the Government Center.
Proceeds from $10 T-shirt sales will replenish the district attorney’s Victims’ Emergency Fund. Pledges and donations also will be welcomed.
Officers from the Oxnard, Simi Valley and Ventura police departments and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department also plan to be on hand.
