Hall’s Timely Double Rescues Simi Valley

Tracie Hall’s two-out, two-run double in the top of the seventh inning saved Simi Valley High, The Times’ top-ranked team, from upset Tuesday, and the Pioneers pulled out a 2-0 victory against Royal in Marmonte League game at Rancho Simi Park.
Junior right-hander Lori Tande (5-2) of Simi Valley (9-2, 2-1 in league play) threw a three-hitter, struck out four and recorded her third shutout of the season.
Jennifer Levan (0-2), a junior, allowed seven hits for Royal (8-8, 1-3).
Westlake 3, Channel Islands 0--Two errors by the host Warriors (4-4-1, 2-1-1) kept freshman pitcher Erin Voeltz from a perfect game in a Marmonte League game at Westlake.
Voeltz (4-3) struck out 14 in her first high school no-hitter. Heather King had two hits, drove in two and scored a run.
Harvard-Westlake 4, Bishop Montgomery 3--Sarah Deckers’ home run in the 11th inning of a nonleague game against Bishop Montgomery (6-6) kept the visiting Wolverines (12-0) undefeated.
Valerie Alter also homered for Harvard-Westlake.
Louisville 1, St. Bonaventure 0--Becky Witt led off the fourth inning with a home run for the Royals (7-3) in a nonleague game at St. Bonaventure (7-6).
Stefanie Urman pitched a three-hitter and struck out four for Louisville.
Chatsworth 8, San Fernando 2--Samantha Pivnik had two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs for the Chancellors (8-2, 3-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at San Fernando.
Stacey Rosenholz had two hits and a run batted in for Chatsworth.
Granada Hills 15, Taft 0--Christina Milanes was three for three with three RBIs in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Granada Hills (6-5, 1-2).
Jennifer Del Real and Missy Miller each had a home run for the Highlanders.
El Camino Real 12, Cleveland 1--Jacqui Goodchild went three for five with two RBIs in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Cleveland.
Kristi Nicklaus (5-0) allowed two hits and struck out eight in five innings for El Camino Real (9-3, 1-1).
Verdugo Hills 11, Belmont 1--Kim Wood (7-1) pitched a one-hitter and struck out 12, and Jodi Kent had two hits, including a home run, for the Dons (10-2, 3-0) in a Northern Conference game.
Village Christian 6, Oak Park 1--Junior pitcher Jacklyn Aranda (4-6) struck out 12 and allowed one hit for the host Crusaders (6-8) in a nonleague game.
Aranda hit a solo home run and a run-scoring double.
Malibu 7, Santa Clara 3--Samantha Hayes had two RBIs for the Sharks (4-3, 3-2) in a Frontier League game at Malibu.
