A monthlong probe by three Ventura County law enforcement agencies led to the arrest of two Oxnard men suspected of selling drugs, authorities said Wednesday.
Officers from the Oxnard and Port Hueneme police departments and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department served a narcotics search warrant at an undisclosed address in the 1000 block of South J Street in Oxnard at about 5 p.m. Tuesday. Investigators said the probe was prompted by tips from convicted narcotic offenders that rock cocaine was being sold at the address.
Police arrested Dwayne “Duke” Hall, 20, a student at Ventura College, who walked into the home while the search was being conducted. Hall was the subject of the investigation. He was being held Wednesday at County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail, a jail spokeswoman said.
On Wednesday, Oxnard police also arrested Reginal Payton, who lives at the same address. His age and bail information were not available.
Oxnard police investigators said Wednesday that no rock cocaine was found at the home during the search. However, investigators reported recovering a small amount of marijuana, pagers, cellular phones, $330 in cash and records of paid and unpaid drug sale transactions.
