Villa Park’s Cohn Wins Century Golf Title

Villa Park’s Geoff Cohn shot four-over-par 76 Tuesday and finished with a seven-over 151 to win the Century League individual golf title at Temecula Creek.

Adam Hambarian of Villa Park and Foothill’s Nick Seymour shot 155 to finish second and third and advance to postseason play.

In the Empire League finals:

Park wins--Jin Park of Sunny Hills shot a one-under par 143 at the Orange course of Green River to win the league championship and qualify for the Southern Section playoffs. Also qualifying were teammates Dusty Schmidt (147), Jeff Park (155) and Brian Sigler (158), and Daniel Jung Lo (151) of Loara.

In the South Coast League finals:

Parker wins--Mater Dei’s Brett Parker shot 73-75 to win the two-day South Coast League finals at San Luis Rey Downs (par 72). Dana Hill’s Kevin Osborn shot 80-77 to finish in second place.

Dana Hill’s Jeff Bates, Robin Shelton and Mission Viejo’s Bob Sauer qualified to advance to Southern Section finals.

Fountain Valley 189, Huntington Beach 198--Candie Kung shot par 36 and led Fountain Valley (9-8, 2-7) in an upset of eighth-ranked Huntington Beach (12-4, 6-3) at Mile Square.

In Freeway League boys’ tennis:

Sunny Hills 17, Fullerton 1--Joseph Kao swept in singles, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, for third-ranked Sunny Hills (12-3, 9-0). In the Garden Grove League:

Garden Grove 17, Pacifica 1--Andro Ignacio swept in singles, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, as Garden Grove defeated second-place Pacifica (9-2 in league) and clinched the league title. The 10th-ranked Argonauts (15-3, 11-0) have won 86 consecutive league matches.

In the Sea View League:

Woodbridge 18, Irvine 0--Top-ranked Woodbridge (19-0, 9-0) won every set and is one victory from completing its first undefeated regular season.

In the South Coast League:

Dana Hills 12, Mission Viejo 6--Brandon Fallon swept in singles, 7-5, 6-0, 6-2, to lead second-ranked Dana Hills (16-2, 8-0).

In the Sunset League:

Los Alamitos 20, Huntington Beach 4--Playing in his first varsity match, freshman Jon Kimmel swept his sets, 6-2, 6-2, for eighth-ranked Los Alamitos (15-1, 9-0). In the Empire League boys’ volleyball:

El Dorado 3, Kennedy 0--Matt Peacock had eight kills for El Dorado (15-2, 11-0), which won, 15-4, 15-2, 15-7, to clinch the first league volleyball title in the history of the school.

Valencia 3, Loara 0--Robert Smith had 14 kills to lead Valencia (14-6, 10-2), which won, 16-14, 15-5, 15-12).
