Keeping Up With a Summer’s Worth of Running

Whether you like racing on the track, on the roads or over a cross-country course, a wide variety of races will be held in the region this summer. Following is a list of dates, times and sites for some of them.
June 14
8 a.m.--Laguna Peak 5K Run. Race starts at the base of Laguna Peak in Port Hueneme and finishes at the top after a 1,300-foot vertical climb. (805) 643-1104.
June 25
6 p.m.--All-comers track and field meet at Birmingham High. Also July 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.
6:30 p.m.--All-comers cross-country meet at corner of 30th Street West and Avenue P in Lancaster.
Races consist of three- and one-mile distances. (805) 949-8197.

July 4
9 a.m.--Santa Clarita Independence Day Classic 5K Run. Race starts and finishes at Newhall Park. (805) 259-5441.
July 12
8 a.m.--The Mission 5K Run/5K Walk. Race starts and finishes at the corner of San Fernando Road and Brand Boulevard in San Fernando and loops around the historic San Fernando Mission. (818) 898-1290.
August 2
8 a.m.--Oxnard Salsa Festival 5K Run. Starts and finishes at Heritage Square in Oxnard. (805) 643-1104.
August 16
8:20 a.m.--Cowtown Mile. Six age-group mile races will be run on Main Street in Ventura. (805) 643-1104.
August 23
8 a.m.--Justin Koppel Memorial cross-country runs at Agoura High. Meet will include a three-mile race, a two-mile race and a one-mile race for children. (818) 591-8786.
September 1
8 a.m.--Sweathearts Couples 10K Relay. Men and women each run 5K legs in relay at the Ventura Pier. (805) 643-1104.
