A former adult school financial manager in Wilmington was arraigned Monday in Los Angeles Municipal Court on charges of embezzling more than $150,000 in student funds.
Rodulfo Boquiren, 47, who oversaw the finances at Banning-Carson Adult School in Wilmington from May 1987 to November 1996, was charged with three counts of evading taxes from 1995 to 1997 and one count of misappropriating public funds, Deputy Dist. Atty. Richard A. Rosenthal said.
School officials discovered the financial irregularities last November when an employee reported that a payroll check was returned for insufficient funds.
Boquiren is being held on $150,000 bail pending a bail review and preliminary hearing on July 16, Rosenthal said.
