Mayor Richard Riordan fielded questions about crime and commended the efforts of child-care providers in a tour of Venice that took him from an Internet-access cafe to a recreation center Wednesday.
At the Oakwood Recreation Center, Riordan stressed that its child-care programs will help ensure success for children.
Earlier in the day, the mayor visited Cyber Java, a cafe where customers can buy time on computers with Internet access.
Later, over lunch at a Venice boardwalk restaurant with local business owners, he pledged that the Los Angeles Police Department will focus on “quality of life crimes” such as graffiti and abandoned buildings.
