Brandon Tartikoff

The premature death of Brandon Tartikoff is a tragedy that goes way beyond the broadcast industry (Aug. 28).
As any world traveler knows, American TV is prime fare in just about every nation of the world, and almost everything the world knows about America, it has gotten from TV entertainment (and news). In many cases, the best of that international representation has come through programs that Tartikoff either created or helped to create.
Among all the people with whom I--as reporter and critic--had to deal in America’s entertainment executive suites, Tartikoff was one of the most intelligent and pleasant. People who know the inside of the industry also know that these most recent years have been difficult ones for him on the personal level.
Why is it, the best often seem to die too young? Goodbye, Brandon Tartikoff. A major gap has been left in our culture.
