Advice for Members of Nonprofit Boards

A free workshop that could be subtitled “Nonprofit board member 101” will be held today in Simi Valley.
Seminar topics include the 10 basic responsibilities of nonprofit board members, five key fund-raising principles and what a potential board member should know before accepting a position.
Esther Wachtell, former president of the Music Center of Los Angeles County and a nationally recognized expert in not-for-profit management, will lead the workshop. The event is sponsored by the Ventura County Arts Council.
The seminar begins at 4 p.m. at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center, 3050 Los Angeles Ave.
