Saying that Oxnard needs to be more “youth friendly,” City Councilman Bedford Pinkard has requested that the city consider building a skateboard park.
Skateboarders in Oxnard have too little room for play, Pinkard said at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting.
“I would ask that we continue to be youth friendly in Oxnard,” he said. “We lost some of that along the line.”
Pinkard suggested that the city look into building a skateboard park near one of the city’s beaches but did not provide any other suggestions.
Oxnard Parks and Facilities Supt. Michael Henderson said Wednesday that there are no skateboard parks in Oxnard and that he will meet with Pinkard within the next week to get more details.
