Hoffman, Tompkins Named Players of Year

Harbor City Narbonne, winner of the City 4-A girls’ basketball championship and Division I state title, placed three players on the 13-member All-City 4-A team, including sophomore forward Ebony Hoffman, who was named player of the year.
Coaches selected teams for the 4-A and 3-A divisions.
Michelle Tompkins of Fairfax was selected 3-A player of the year.
Hoffman, who averaged 12 points and 10 rebounds, was joined by Narbonne teammates Jessica Cheeks and Loree Moore on the 4-A team. Palisades, the 4-A runner-up, also placed three players on the team--Lielani Estavan, April Freeney and Nicole Funn-Lockley.
Other 4-A selections: Sha’Tasha Allen (Banning), Cara Blumfield (Woodland Hills El Camino Real), Jennifer Bracamontes (Garfield), Kai Ito (Venice), Camille Norwood (Washington), Nakeisha Perkins (Van Nuys Grant), Lindsay Sotero-Higa (North Hollywood).
Tompkins led Fairfax to the 3-A final and scored 20 points in a championship-game loss to Bell. Teammate Latanya Tibbs also was selected for the 3-A team.
Other 3-A selections: Schquay Brignac (Reseda Cleveland), Tracey Burrell-Dill (Hamilton), Julie Cabigting (Eagle Rock), Jessica Cosby (Granada Hills), Nani Escudero (Franklin), Quiana Jeffries (Poly), Tiesha Maddox (South Gate), Tiffany McCollum (San Pedro), Sugar Pacana (Marshall), Veronica Ramos (Sylmar) and Linda Tran (Bell).

The fourth RBI/Chet Brewer Inner City baseball tournament begins Saturday.
The 18-team, weeklong tournament will be played at Griffith Park, Compton College, Pepperdine, Cal State Los Angeles, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount and USC.
The semifinals and championship game will be played April 11 at USC’s Dedeaux Field.
