Former Times Editor Talking With ABC News

Shelby Coffey III, the former editor of the Los Angeles Times, is in discussions with ABC News about an executive role, according to sources at the network. The position could include new-business development and a role in overseeing editorial standards at the news division. William Abrams, the current vice president in charge of new-business ventures, is leaving, and some reorganization is expected under ABC News President David Westin. Coffey, who resigned as editor of The Times in October, declined comment on the ABC job. “I’ve appreciated talking to a variety of people since leaving the editorship,” he said. “I haven’t made any choice beyond enjoying enormously the time with my wife and children.”
