Court Bans TV for McVeigh Appeal
A federal appeals court said it will not allow proceedings from convicted Oklahoma City bomber Timothy J. McVeigh’s appeal to be telecast by closed circuit television to victims in Oklahoma City. The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver gave no reason for its decision. Prosecutors had asked the court to make an exception to its rules and allow a telecast of oral arguments to Oklahoma City for victims and relatives of people who died in the April 19, 1995, bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. McVeigh is appealing his conviction and death sentence for the bombing, which killed 168 people. Oral arguments before the federal Court of Appeals here are scheduled for April 28.
