‘Madagascar Skin’

Chris Newby’s austere yet often funny film finds a shy young gay man (John Hannah, right), whose good looks are marred by a large port wine birthmark on his face, holed up in a remote, abandoned South Wales cottage with a shady, barrel-chested, middle-aged straight guy (Bernard Hill, left) who may be on the lam. What develops is both credible and provocative (Cinemax early Friday at 4:40 a.m.).
