Journalism Teacher Judged Best in State

Mary Ellen Cummings, Esperanza High School’s journalism teacher, has received a top award from the California Newspaper Publishers Assn.
Cummings was recently honored with the Outstanding High School Journalism Teacher of the Year award for 1997.
For 21 years, Cummings has taught at the Anaheim high school and for the past 19 years has overseen the school’s newspaper.
