Adam Johnson’s one-out, three-run homer in the bottom of the 23rd inning ended a 6-hour, 26-minute marathon as the double-A Greenville Braves outlasted the Huntsville Stars, 10-7, in the completion of a suspended game Friday at Greenville, S.C.
The 23-inning game tied a Southern League record established by Columbus and Savannah and the time of the game was a Greenville record.
People who had ticket stubs from the game, which was suspended 1:06 a.m. EDT, were allowed back into the ballpark for the completion of the game.
Johnson was six for 10 with five RBIs. The teams combined to strand 37 runners, strike out 37 times, draw 26 walks and use 14 pitchers.
