Teenage Boy Held in Molotov Cocktail Attack on Border Agent

SAN DIEGO — Authorities have arrested a teenage boy who shuttles between homes in the United States and Mexico for allegedly tossing a Molotov cocktail over the border fence at a Border Patrol vehicle.
The teenager, whose identity was not released, is expected to be arraigned Monday in San Diego.
A U.S. Border Patrol agent was driving along a road in Jacumba on Wednesday, about 75 miles east of San Diego, when he noticed an upside-down bucket on the road. He stopped, and then spotted someone standing on the other side of the border fence.
The person threw a Molotov cocktail--a bottle filled with gasoline usually wrapped in a soaked rag that is ignited. The homemade firebomb bounced off the hood of the agent’s truck and exploded after hitting the ground. The agent was not injured.
The suspect was arrested by San Diego County sheriff’s deputies and U.S. Border Patrol agents Thursday after being identified by a witness.
