The Thousand Oaks City Council approved a new policy to enforce the abandoned vehicle law, which city officials say will make it easier for officers to ticket or tow vehicles left on a city street for more than three days.
Under the new policy, officers are authorized to quickly remove any car whose owner is listed in a computer database as a repeat offender. If so, the car could be off the street within a within a few hours. The database lists those individuals who have been previously cited or towed since 1997.
