For Harvard-Westlake to win its first sectional title since the school opened in 1901, the Wolverines will have to contain Steve Stevenson, a running back and receiver at Charter Oak.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Stevenson, who has scheduled recruiting trips to UCLA, USC, Colorado, Texas A&M; and Oregon, almost single-handedly eliminated Chaminade in the Division VII quarterfinals, running for three touchdowns and catching a pass for another in a 37-13 victory.
Stevenson also returns kicks for Charter Oak (10-2-1), though he shouldn’t expect to see much action in that aspect on Saturday.
“We’re not going to kick the ball to him,” Coach Dave Bennett of Harvard-Westlake said. “We’re going to try to eliminate as many touches by him as possible.”
