A noted arborist will conduct a street-by-street study of parkway trees and draft a master plan to make sure the city stays green for decades to come. City Council members unanimously agreed to add $2,500 to the Parkway Tree Committee’s $8,200 budget. The group has been meeting for months to consider the status of the 1,400 parkway trees around the city. Arborist Michael T. Mahoney will travel the city’s neighborhoods and allow residents to choose from lists of trees that can thrive in an urban environment.
