A police sobriety checkpoint last weekend resulted in the arrests of seven adults on suspicion of drunk driving and three teenagers on suspicion of car theft. Police said 1,517 vehicles passed through the checkpoint on Brookhurst Street, north of Heil Avenue, and 13 drivers were diverted for additional evaluation. The three juveniles--a 15-year-old from Huntington Beach, a 16-year-old from Fountain Valley and a 17-year-old from Mission Viejo--were detained after police said they tried to drive through the checkpoint in a 1984 Pontiac Sunbird that had been reported stolen from Huntington Beach.
