Re “ ‘Monica Watch’ West,” Feb. 4: I realize that The Times has a limited number of reporters available to cover stories as earth-shattering as this one. So in order for The Times to conserve valuable resources while still maintaining this high level of critical information gathering, I’d like to divulge the following information:
Today I worked at my desk. I had a grilled chicken sandwich for lunch while reading Wired magazine. To my chagrin, nobody offered me a fresh-baked cookie. If you need more information, I’d be glad to provide you with the name of an eyewitness who observed me eating a Snickers bar in the late afternoon.
As to whether or not I’ve slept with the president, I have no comment. Besides, I’m sure he’d deny it.
