Two Left on Mission for Water Polo Title
With a girls’ water polo title at stake for the first time in the Southern Section’s existence, eight teams set out to bring the Division II trophy to the Valley/Ventura County region.
After first-round losses by six of those teams, hopes rest squarely on the shoulders of two Mission League teams: Harvard-Westlake (13-0) and Louisville (20-2).
Mission League champion Harvard-Westlake, seeded No. 2, looks to remain undefeated when the Wolverines make the trip to Santa Maria to face Righetti, which finished third in the Los Padres/Northern League. Jeanine Jackson and Stephanie Dashiell lead the Wolverines.
Louisville, seeded No. 3, saw most of the Division II favorites in the Cabrillo tournament last month, a tournament the Royals won. But today’s opponent, Pacific League champion Arcadia wasn’t there.
Louisville, the Mission League runner-up, lost only to Harvard-Westlake this season and the Royals, led by Kim Feig and Katie Pyle, shouldn’t have much trouble against Arcadia.
