Group Agrees to Concept of Smaller Nature Center

A downsized version of a controversial nature center proposed for Friendship Park is a little closer to reality.
In a meeting with Supervisor Don Knabe on Thursday, members of the Friends of Friendship Park agreed with the idea of a smaller nature center, but want it to be a rustic building of native materials.
A recent review by the county Department of Parks and Recreation approved the location of a smaller nature center near an existing parking lot, avoiding construction of a new lot for the 123-acre park straddling the border of Rancho Palos Verdes and San Pedro.
