4 Nude Dancers Receive Jail Terms

A Municipal judge this week sentenced four dancers, convicted of improper contact with patrons at a nude club, to jail terms ranging from 30 to 90 days.
Amphone Ann Ly and Kimber Ann Cummings received 60-day sentences; Carolee Ann Steube, 30 days; and Gloria Hernandez, 90 days. The jail sentences were suspended pending an appeal by the defendants.
The four women were charged in September 1997 after an investigation into alleged prostitution and other illegal activities at the Sahara Theatre in Anaheim.
A jury recently convicted them of violating a city code that prohibits entertainers in adult businesses from touching customers. They were also convicted of prostitution charges stemming from lap dances, city prosecutors said.
The sentencing ends an investigation in which 22 men and women--dancers, theater managers and several patrons--were charged with violating Anaheim’s municipal code or state law, or both, at the Flamingo and Sahara theaters. In three trials, 21 people--all except one manager--were convicted of misdemeanors.
