Higashi Sends Saugus Home Hitless, 7-0

Jon Higashi pitched a no-hitter and had two hits to lead West Hills Chaminade over Saugus, 7-0, in an American Legion District 20 baseball game Tuesday at Chaminade High.
Higashi struck out five and walked three. He has allowed one earned run in 21 innings.
Spencer Gordon had two hits for West Hills Chaminade (14-7), including a solo home run in the seventh inning, and drove in three runs.
Saugus dropped to 11-11-1.
Van Nuys Notre Dame 10, Van Nuys Grant 0--Jon Horwitz hit a two-run homer in the first and another one in the sixth in a District 20 game at Grant High.
Ryan Stonerock had three hits, including a solo homer in the second for Van Nuys Notre Dame (18-3), and Kevin Jerkens (6-0) pitched a two-hitter with nine strikeouts.
Woodland Hills El Camino Real 17, Woodland Hills Taft 4--Jesse Dechter and Brian Somoza hit home runs for El Camino Real, which built a 10-0 lead after two innings in a District 20 game shortened to five innings at El Camino Real High.
North Hollywood Poly 7, Van Nuys 5--John Manuel and Angel Espindola each had two hits for North Hollywood Poly (16-6), which broke a 3-3 tie with three runs in the sixth inning in a District 20 game at Poly High.
Salvador Trujillo (3-1) gave up seven hits and one walk but no earned runs in five innings in relief of Espindola.
Royal 16, Oxnard 5--Brian Lipman hit a solo home run in the third inning and a two-run shot in the fourth, and finished with three hits and five runs batted in for Royal in a District 16 game.
Panorama City 4, Van Nuys Birmingham 3--Rafael Arroyo was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the fourth inning to break a 3-3 tie in a District 20 game at Alemany High.
