Van Nuys Airport and Jobs
I can’t see why there is so much discussion of the jobs issue at Van Nuys Airport.
A nuclear power plant would bring jobs to the Valley but it’s dangerous. A slaughterhouse would undoubtedly bring jobs to the area, but it would stink.
Helicopters that haven’t been subjected to the most rigorous Federal Aviation Administration standards aren’t as safe as those that have. Period.
And the idea that residents should be subjected to earsplitting charter-jet noise from a general aviation airport that was designed and built so people could own and fly their own small planes . . . is also indefensible from the point of view of “job creation.”
The logic just doesn’t hold up.
