Transportation Panel Chooses New Chair

Nancy Grasmehr of Thousand Oaks has been named chairwoman of the Ventura County Transportation Commission.
February’s weather postponed the election until March, but the one-year term will still end in February 1999.
Also at the commission’s meeting last week, Ventura City Councilman Jack Tingstrom was elected vice chairman of the commission. He will rotate into the chairman’s position in February 1999.
Grasmehr served her first term on the commission as a citizens representative of the cities from 1989 to 1994.
In 1996, the Thousand Oaks attorney began serving as the citizens representative for the county.
The Ventura County Transportation Committee was created in 1988 and became operational in 1989, assuming the resources and transportation responsibilities of the Ventura County Assn. of Governments.
The commission is responsible for establishing transportation policies and coordinating activities between the various transportation operators and agencies, the cities and the county.
The mission of VCTC is to improve mobility within the county and increase funding to meet transportation needs.
