Simi Valley police officers will join peace officers across the country Friday in observing National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day. A police chaplain will be present at the beginning of each patrol shift to offer a prayer.
Simi Valley officers will wear black stripes across their badges in remembrance of all peace officers who have lost their lives while on duty, particularly Officer Michael Clark, who was shot to death Aug. 4, 1995, while responding to a “check welfare” call in the city.
Simi Valley city flags will also be flown at half-staff that day, Police Chief Randy Adams said.
