Police are investigating the death of a 16-year-old Irvine boy who was found at the bottom of a community pool.
Jonathan McCrea was discovered by friends about 10 p.m. Friday at the Northwood Courtside Community Pool, Police Lt. Tom Hume said.
The friends pulled the boy out and performed CPR.
Paramedics took the victim to Western Medical Center--Santa Ana, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said the drowning appears to be accidental, and investigators found no evidence of drugs or alcohol at the scene.
The Orange County coroner’s office is awaiting the results of a toxicology test before confirming a cause of death, Hume said.
