Police Still Probing Man’s Fatal Shooting

Police continued their search Monday for the killer of a 23-year-old Ventura man who was shot over the weekend, but said witnesses were offering few clues.
Ricardo Silva was shot once in the head late Saturday after a fight broke out on Bell Way, near Ventura Avenue. Silva died after being taken to Ventura County Medical Center.
At the time of the shooting, Silva was standing with about a dozen youths in a driveway lined by several small apartment buildings, police said. Authorities described him as a gang member, but said they were unsure whether a rival gang was involved.
Youths who were there have offered few tips, Ventura Police Sgt. Gary McCaskill said.
“We’re still talking to people,” McCaskill said. “We believe a number of these people witnessed the killing. As of yet, they have not come forward” with information.
