Council Set to Discuss Hidden Creek Project

MOORPARK — After ending the last public hearing on the Hidden Creek Ranch project plan this week, the City Council decided to begin its deliberations on the plan next Wednesday.
The panel also agreed to send the project’s proposed development agreement to the city’s Planning Commission for consideration.
The development agreement calls for the developer to pay the city about $51 million in special fees.
During Wednesday’s public hearing for the project’s Specific Plan, a number of residents continued the steady drumbeat of complaints against the development, which calls for building up to 3,221 homes just north of town.
“You’ll need that $50 million and much more to solve the problems to come,” said Moorpark resident Kim Ramsayer, who expressed concerns about the loss of wildlife and increased traffic and noise resulting from the project.
Later during the same meeting, former Councilwoman Eloise Brown pointed out that it is hypocritical to buy a development-built home in Moorpark and then close that option to others.
If developments are so objectionable she said why “move into Moorpark and purchase development-built homes,” Brown asked.
On Wednesday, the council will discuss the Specific Plan, which lays out what the developer would like to include in the project.
