Senate Panel OKs Judgeship Nominee

The Senate Judiciary Committee approved the nomination of a friend of President Clinton as a judge on the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. William Fletcher, 52, is a UC Berkeley law professor who was first nominated three years ago. The committee voted, 12 to 6, to send Fletcher’s nomination to the full Senate for consideration.
