Fresno State’s Weaver Selected All-American

Jeff Weaver, a right-handed pitcher from Fresno State and Simi Valley High, was selected to Collegiate Baseball magazine’s All-American team.
Weaver (10-4) was a first-team selection. Former Cal State Northridge left-hander Benny Flores (12-0) was a second-team choice.
Cal State Northridge second baseman Nakia Hill (.414, 15 home runs) and former Northridge and Kennedy High outfielder Terrmel Sledge (.381) of Cal State Long Beach made the third team.
Mike Schultz, a Loyola Marymount right-hander from Cleveland High, was picked to the All-Freshman team. Schultz, the West Coast Conference pitcher of the year, defeated Stanford on Thursday in the Western Regional.
Pepperdine catcher Dane Sardinha, Nevada Las Vegas catcher Ryan Hamill of Chaminade, Kentucky third baseman John Wilson of L.A. Baptist and Stanford’s Joe Borchard, an outfielder and designated hitter from Camarillo, were honorable mention freshman choices.
