A new David Bowie song, “Fun,” will be featured on the live album recorded during his 1997 “Earthling” tour. Remixes of the song by Danny Saber (who produced some of the Rolling Stones’ “Bridges to Babylon”) and Dillinja will be included as bonus tracks on the album, due in the fall. Meanwhile, Bowie is off to Italy to film a role in the movie “The West” with Harvey Keitel. . . .

With the Geraldine Fibbers disbanded, at least for the time being, singer Carla Bozulich and guitarist Nels Cline have a new project, Scarnela. They’ll head to a Seattle studio in June to record a debut album for Smells Like Records, the new label run by Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley. The duo has also done a version of “Hot Pants” for a James Brown tribute album. . . .

Badar Ali Khan, the nephew of the late qawwali master Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, will be backed by David Byrne and R.E.M.’s Peter Buck on some dates of a summer concert tour, promoting a new EP, “The Mixes,” which recasts some of his traditional Pakistani pieces in dance remixes. . . .

Techno artist Fat Boy Slim is working on his second album, set to follow last year’s “Better Living Through Chemistry,” which featured the hit “Out of My Head.” . . . With albums out under his real name, Luke Vibert, and one alias, Plug, Vibert will release an album titled “Tally Ho!” under the name Wagon Christ in September. An EP, “Power of Love,” will precede on June 9. . . .

Jed the Fish took time out from spinning records as the afternoon deejay at KROQ-FM (106.7) to produce on one. He produced two songs by the young Orange County band El Centro for a debut album, “Alto,” to be released next month by the new Finger Records label, co-founded by former KROQ deejay Sam Freese.
