Valley residents who have been unable to contact immediate family members in Central America affected by Hurricane Mitch may call the American Red Cross locally at (213) 739-4543. Information on how to help victims is also available at this number.
Inquiries will be accepted for immediate family members only. Callers must provide the complete name, address, home and work telephone numbers, date of birth or age of the person sought.
The Red Cross urges relatives to continue to try to contact family members on their own.
All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free and made possible by donations. To help the victims of Hurricane Mitch and other disasters, contributions can be made to the American Red Cross International Response Fund by calling (800) HELP-NOW (435-7669) or (800) 257-7575 for information in Spanish.
